PHC Group Commitment to Achieve Net Zero Emissions
PHC Group has announced our goal to achieve Net Zero*1 greenhouse gas emissions*2 by 2050, following approval at the Board of Directors meeting.
PHC Group recognizes climate change as one of the most pressing global challenges, with far-reaching impacts on human health, ecosystems, and the resilience of supply chains. Frequent extreme weather events and disruptions to global logistics pose serious risks to public health and access to essential healthcare technologies. As a healthcare company, we believe it is our responsibility to take decisive action to mitigate these risks and contribute to a more sustainable future.
For this reason, PHC Group has established a long-term goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050 and has outlined a phased approach to accomplish this target. This approach includes our previously announced goals of achieving our Near-Term Science Based Targets*3, which have been validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi)*4, and achieving Carbon Neutrality*5 for Scope 1 and Scope 2.
- • By 2030 (SBTi) : Achieve 45% reduction from a 2023 baseline in Scope 1*6 and Scope 2*7 emissions, while also reaching 25% reduction from a 2023 baseline across Scope 3*8.
- • By 2040 : Achieve Carbon Neutrality in Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions,
- • By 2050 : Maintain Carbon Neutrality in Scope 1 and Scope 2, while also reaching Net Zero emissions across Scope 3.
We are confident that PHC Group’s climate targets are both ambitious and achievable. With clear goals in place, we are now developing our Climate Transition Plan*9 to define the actions and timeline needed to reach these targets, working closely with experienced partners to ensure a robust approach.
Transparency is central to our approach. We are committed to regularly disclosing our emissions and progress. Detailed information can be found in the PHC Group Integrated Report*10 and on our website under Sustainability Initiatives*11.
*1 Reaching Net Zero in 2050 requires deep emissions reductions and neutralizing any residual emissions through permanent carbon removal solutions across the whole value chain.
*2 Greenhouse gases covered by the Kyoto Protocol: carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), nitrous oxide (N2O), hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs), perfluorocarbons (PFCs), and sulphur hexafluoride (SF6).

*4 The SBTi is a corporate climate action organization that checks and validates the scientific basis of CO2 emissions reduction targets set by companies worldwide. It is jointly operated by the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), the We Mean Business Coalition, the World Resources Institute (WRI), and the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF). *5 PHC Group’s 2040 goal of carbon neutrality means balancing the greenhouse gases we emit (specifically CO2 and HFCs) with equivalent removals or offsets.
*6 Scope 1: direct emissions from our operations.
*7 Scope 2: indirect emissions from purchased electricity and energy.
*8 Scope 3: indirect emissions from the entire value chain.
*9 Set to be disclosed in FY26.
