PHC Corporation
Tokyo, Japan - The In Vitro Diagnostics Business Group of PHC Corporation's Life Sciences Division (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo; President: Nobuaki Nakamura; hereinafter “PHC”), a subsidiary of PHC Holdings Corporation (Head Office: Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo), today announced that the next-generation model(*1) of its PATHFAST™ chemiluminescent immunoassay analyzer has achieved compliance with the European In Vitro Diagnostic Medical Devices Regulation (IVDR) and has been launched in Europe. PATHFAST™ is used for the measurement of a wide range of biomarkers associated with acute myocardial infarction, sepsis, and other clinically relevant conditions.
The updated PATHFAST™ system is scheduled to be exhibited at JACLaS EXPO 2026, to be held at the Kobe International Exhibition Hall in Kobe, Japan, from October 8 to 10, 2026.
PATHFAST™
PATHFAST™ delivers test results in as little as 17 minutes(*2), supporting healthcare professionals in emergency and critical care settings where rapid diagnostic assessment and timely clinical decision-making are essential. The system supports whole blood samples(*2) and features an all-in-one reagent cartridge that integrates reagents and waste processing functionality, enabling simple and efficient operation. Since its launch in 2005, PATHFAST™ has been used in approximately 50 countries and regions worldwide, including Japan, the United States, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America.
The next-generation model retains the key advantages of the original PATHFAST™ system while offering enhanced usability and workflow efficiency. This updated system was first introduced in Japan in October 2025.
Europe represents one of the strongest markets for PHC's In Vitro Diagnostics business, and PATHFAST™ has been supporting emergency medicine and critical care testing for more than two decades across the region. In particular, PATHFAST™ hs-cTnI, a dedicated assay used in the diagnosis of acute coronary syndromes, is aligned with the European Society of Cardiology (ESC) recommendations for high-sensitivity cardiac troponin testing and supports timely clinical decision-making. In addition, PATHFAST™ Presepsin is an assay that supports sepsis assessment and risk stratification in critically ill septic patients.
With the introduction of the updated model in Europe, PHC will continue to provide existing customers with improved usability and a stable testing environment while expanding adoption among new healthcare institutions across the region.
Looking ahead, PHC plans to further expand the PATHFAST™ assay menu and geographical footprint while accelerating the growth of its diagnostics business in Europe. Through market-driven product development and high-quality manufacturing, PHC remains committed to delivering reliable diagnostic solutions to healthcare professionals worldwide and contributing to faster and higher-quality testing environments.
